I recently discovered two fantastic florists, Vanessa and Michael Gonzalez, owners of Verde Flowers in New York City, who create gorgeous, unforgettable arrangements. (They also happen to be the sole florist for the New York Yankees!) Check out their dramatic cascading bouquet:

...organic elements they often combine with flowers:

I also love their amazing display of green-hued florals:

For brides marrying over the holiday season, Vanessa and Michael offer these tips, which they used for a recent wedding:

1. Lots of whites, complimented by holiday greens, such as pine or magnolia, lend a wintry feel without making your wedding look too much like Christmas. Flowers such as dendrobium and phalaenopsis orchids can be draped to add an element of romance. Large blooms such as amaryllis, hydrangea and roses add softness and evoke a snowy landscape.

2. Use a great deal of candlelight to add a warm glow to the design — the more candles the better!!

3. Incorporating crystal elements, such as candlesticks and hanging crystals, can add an amazing glisten to each design. And use a combination of mercury glass, clear glass and silver julep cups as vessels. This will create an eclectic, vintage feel and add richness to the design.
