New York City’s High School of Fashion Industries (HSFI) in partnership with Kleinfeld Bridal hosted its 10th annual design competition last week. The yearly competition, founded by industry experts Robert Di Mauro and Mara Urshel, shows off talented wedding gown designs from the school's junior year students.

Final six contestants HSFI

Out of a class of 30 students, six finalists were selected to show their designs. The winner received a monetary award, while designer and fellow judge Madeline Gardner agreed to create the winning gown, to be sold exclusively at Kleinfelds.

1. The Dress by Symphony Archibald

pantsuit

A tongue-in-cheek name for a stunning bridal suit, Archibald crafted a seamless two-piece number that turned many heads.

  1. 2. Chateau Royal by Lucero Salas

cinderella ballgown

    1. Salas showed off her design skills with this Cinderella-worthy gown.

3. Volatile Fantasy by Rosalie Espinal

Volatile Fantasy

    1. Espinal used well-placed panels of lace to create a figure-flattering silhouette.

4. Sculptured Garden by America Rios-Bravo

fit-and-flare gown

Kabba wowed the judges with her intricate tulle work and hem of the skirt.

  1. 5. The Nostalgic Wagadou Queen of Sononkara by Cartomu Kabba

wedding gown

    1. Sononkara wowed the judges and guests with her homage to her culture. The young designer displayed a sparkling gown and artfully crafted headpiece.

  1. 6. Earth Angel by Sarah Moskowitz

Blush wedding gown

Moskowitz stunned with an on-trend blush gown, featuring ethereal accents and lace angel wing back detailing.

With six artfully designed dresses, choosing a winner seemed difficult. However, Sarah Moskowitz’s angelic gown stood out amongst the talented teenagers. Look for her dress at Kleinfelds, thanks to the helpful of Designer Madeline Gardner, Mentor Robert Di Mauro, and Mara Urshal of Kelinfelds.

We cannot wait to see what designs next year's talented students come up with!
