One of the first things we do as engaged gals is decide who will stand up with us on our big day. And, there are lots of spots to fill: Bridesmaid, MOH, flower girl...you know, the wedding party! But what should you do if you want to include 16 of your closest girlfriends/sorority sisters/cousins and you're not keen on the idea of having a Kardashian-style soirée? Consider giving these additional roles to loved ones who aren't in the bridal party to make them feel special and appreciated, too.

1. Honor Attendants
Having an “honor attendant” is somewhat of a new trend, and is usually reserved for a friend or family member of the bride or groom who is not a traditional bridesmaid or groomsman. It’s customary to have these guys/gals dressed similarly to the wedding party (i.e. same color gown as the bridal party, but in a different shade), and seated near the front of the ceremony or reception. They are basically just a fun support system of people you wanted around you on your big day, but weren’t included in the official wedding party for one reason or another.

2. Guest Book/Programs/Photobooth Attendant
Those things can’t man themselves! These positions are great for your cousins, Aunt, your mom’s best friend or your best friend’s mom. You’ll want to choose someone who not only knows most of the guests, but who is also friendly and outgoing enough to get people to sign your book and take a fun photo! Having a fun guest book to read after all is said and done is definitely something to look forward to after your honeymoon!

3. Ceremony “Helpers”
Think of all the positions to fill for a ceremony: Musicians, readers, singers/soloists, and any religious event you might want to include in your ceremony (and if you’re Catholic, you know there are many!).  Being asked to read a poem or sing a special song is a huge honor and most family members and friends would be thrilled to be included in such a way.
