Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are officially husband-and-wife!
"It's great to be married, the ceremony was beautiful and it was so special to be surrounded by our family and friends," the couple told People.
The Trouble With the Curve star, 31, and his longtime love, 30, were wed on Oct. 19 in Puglia, Italy. A source revealed to The New York Post that "it's a location that is very special to them"—according to reports, Biel and Timberlake attended the 2008 nuptials of Beverly Mitchell (Biel's former co-star on "7th Heaven"), in Ravello on the Amalfi Coast, which isn't too far away.
Several hundred guests flew to Italy to celebrate the couple's nuptials at Borgo Egnazia, an ultra-luxurious hotel that's set against a stunning backdrop of the Adriatic Sea and surrounded by fragrant prickly pear and lavender. Il Giornale di Puglia, an Italian newspaper, originally reported that Lady Gaga and Elton John were in attendance, but the stars' reps have since denied those claims. Confirmed guests included Saturday Night Live's Andy Samberg, Jimmy Fallon, and music producer Timbaland.
UPDATE: Biel wore a custom-designed pink-and-white gown by longtime friend Giambattista Valli. The groom described it as being "so Jess"—timeless yet eccentric. Surprised by her style choice? So was Mrs. Timberlake (as she will be referred to outside of Hollywood, she's keeping her name professionally) herself, who reveals to People Magazine that "It's a style I will only ever wear that one day." That wasn't the only surprise from their big day—Timberlake also serenaded his wife with a new song from his upcoming album, which had guests in tears.
The hottest wedding of the year kicked off with a pre-wedding beach party dinner on Oct. 16. Guests dined on seafood pasta and sipped cocktails while Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" crooned in the background; spectacular fireworks capped off the memorable night. The next day, they visited a grotto in Lama del Trappeto to experience the local culture, which included sampling delicacies (olives, ricotta, wine) and watching an Italian folk dance performance.
The pair got engaged last December in Jackson, Wyoming after dating on and off for five years. Biel told E! News last month that their wedding-planning process was smooth sailing: "I'm just pretty much cool as a cucumber in general in my life." Timberlake hinted that there was a little more to it than that, telling People Magazine that "We really did this whole thing together. She did the soup and I did the nuts. And that we didn't kill each other, that's a bonus!"
During an October press conference with the Hollywood Foreign Press, Timberlake revealed that he answers to a higher power now: "We have a couple of rules in our relationship. The first rule is that I make her feel like she's getting everything. The second rule is that I actually do let her have her way in everything. And, so far, it's working."
"She's a really, really, really special person," he told reporters. "Plus, she's really, really, hot!"
All humor aside, the couple knows that marriage is full of complexities, but they're "ready to jump" into a lifelong commitment. "It's as simple as having someone there to open up the pickle jar when you can't get it open and as complicated as deciding to be in each other's lives forever," Biel told People Magazine.
Congratulazioni to the happy couple!
