Cruise into romance with a sea-worthy destination wedding.

Exquisite ocean views, unique destinations and myriad activities are just some of the perks of hosting a wedding at sea. And planning your happily ever after on a ship has never been easier. Many companies, including the iconic Princess Cruises, offer exclusive wedding packages, planning pros and loads of excellent spots onboard — and on shore — to kiss your beloved. Here are the questions to ask and the things to consider before you and your new spouse sail into the sunset.
Assess the Scene
Marrying at sea not only offers the experience of a destination wedding, stunning venues and a customized celebration but it's also budget friendly. If you’re comfortable with a smaller guest list (most wedding packages accommodate two to eighteen guests) overall costs can be considerably less than those for an at-home affair.
Chart Your Course
It's best to start planning a year in advance so that all your guests can properly plan their own travel and to ensure that you have the prime selection of staterooms and other amenities. Determine what time of year and where you would like to wed, check out cruise-ship itineraries and destinations online and contact the ship's wedding planning team to answer your specific questions. If a cruise ship will be docked at a nearby port, ask if you can make arrangements for a tour. (You may want to consider setting sail from a nearby port to cut back on driving and airfare costs.) Decide whether to exchange vows harborside or on the ship. Some couples opt to legally wed at home before setting sail and have a symbolic ceremony at sea.
All Aboard
Consider a large cruise ship, where you'll find numerous venues available for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Marry on an outside deck with the setting sun as your backdrop, on a beach or in a signature restaurant. No matter where you choose to tie the knot and party afterward, the specialized decor and sumptuous surroundings promise an unforgettable experience without sacrificing the romantic ambience of an intimate celebration. Up the romance for you and your groom with private in-room dining, a couples massage and a just-the-two-of-you onshore getaway. (Princess Perfect Weddings packages start at $2,995; princess.com).
Starship
As Princess Cruises' Love and Romance Ambassador, fashion designer and "Say Yes to the Dress!" star Randy Fenoli says, "Where else can you spend an entire week with your nearest and dearest than on a luxurious cruise ship?” Excursions, onboard activities, day and night entertainment, a casino, spa, pools, spacious staterooms and state-of-the-art restaurants guarantee a week of fun — and quality time — with family and friends.
