Tip of the Day: "Consider your wedding venue when having your gown tailored. If you’ll be spending the evening dancing in a lush garden, you may want a shorter hem to keep your dress from dragging in the grass and getting caught underfoot. If you’ll be dancing the night away in a marble ballroom, a longer hem that just touches the floor will elongate your body and look amazing," says Christina Pannone from Knieriem Designs Custom Clothing.

Touchdown! Football-Themed Weddings

More couples are bucking tradition by paying for the wedding themselves, staging elaborate photo shoots — Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco has gotten flack for goofy photos taken at his wedding in 2011, which surfaced the web this week — and redefining what makes a wedding truly unforgettable. Now we're seeing a sharp increase in sports-themed weddings, where even the bride isn't afraid to get a little down-and-dirty with a pre-reception game of touch football.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the trend is catching on — SportsThemedWeddings.com threw about 300 sports-themed weddings last year (10x more than in 2010). Renting an arena can start at $10,000 for 125 guests.

I must confess: I'm not a football fan. Every year, one of my pals hosts a huge Super Bowl fiesta, and my idea of "watching" the game involves glancing at the tube every so often while consuming massive amounts of guacamole and catching up on the latest gossip with my girlfriends. What can I say? It's a time-honored tradition.

Our Favorite Jewish Weddings

Here, check out four beautiful weddings that incorporate Jewish traditions.

Jaime & Henrik Sukonnik in New Rochelle, NY

These high school sweethearts tied the knot beneath a beautiful rustic-inspired chuppah in a traditional Jewish ceremony. The couple modified the tradition of circling the groom seven times to reflect modern times: Jaime circled Henrik three times, Henrik circled Jaime three times, and they did the last circle together. Favorite memory: "Dancing the Hora is always something exciting with my family, especially when you almost fall off the chair!"

Tip of the Day: If you're planning an outdoor wedding ceremony — especially in an open, unshaded space such as the beach — then consider having it in the late afternoon or evening. "It will ensure beautiful lighting and less squinting in your photos," says photographer Sophia from Sophia Lemon Photography. The optimal time is one hour before the sun goes down (if you're doing all your photography beforehand) or three hours prior (if you're taking most of your photos after the ceremony).

A Fun School-Themed Wedding

As the kids and our teacher friends head back to school this week, we've got back-to-school fever right along with them. So when we came across Ira and Jerry's gorgeous school-themed wedding, we couldn't wait to share it with you. This pair first met in elementary school when they were just seven years old!

"We lived a couple houses apart and would go to each other's houses to play after school," said the bride, Ira. The two stayed close friends until Ira and her family moved from Pendleton, OR to Portland, OR in the middle of eighth grade.

23 years later, the pair reconnected through Facebook and met to catch up. "We chatted exactly like we were old friends and connected on so many levels almost immediately," said Ira. "From that day on, we were inseparable."

Jerry proposed in February of 2011 during a surprise weekend in Bend, OR. "The drive home gave us plenty of time to talk about the wedding, and it was obvious that our wedding was going to have a Back-to-School theme," said Ira.

"Our wedding day went without a hitch, with family and friends pitching in to make it a joyous, memorable and fun occasion," said Ira. "It was a day filled with love and laughter; a truly unforgettable day, 32 years in the making."
