"Served at my daughter’s 'local reception,' this sugar skull cake by Melanie Powell from Mad Lily Cakery blended the atmosphere of her destination wedding in Mexico with the groom's passion for music. Today, groom’s cakes are designed to bring in the personalities of the groom. We have come a long way from the traditional chocolate layers with strawberries on top!"

"Sometimes a simple snacking favorite can make for a swoon-worthy cake, like this creation by Lisa Ho. Top a cake-style stack of goodies — Oreos, Nutter Butters, the options are endless — with a glitter gold flag and you've got a dessert that'll make your groom and guests go wild."

"This amazing groom's cake from A Wish and a Whisk is a replica of the groom's favorite shoes. They even put it in a shoebox, and he had no idea that it was a cake!"

"What could be more manly for a groom than a meat smoker cake? A Wish and a Whisk recreated a smoker complete with brisket smoking on the grate and used dry ice to make it look as if smoke was coming out of the lid."

"I love this cake by Pretty Please Bakeshop. The groom was an ophthalmologist and a Spider-Man fan, so the baker made him a cake of a bust of Spiderman wearing a lab coat and stethoscope. The eye chart read the bride and grooms' names and their wedding date. Too cute!"
