A Modern Take on Lace Wedding Dresses

This season, lace has seen a modern update; it is no longer the conservative fabric reserved for your grandmother's closet. Today's lace is mixed with tulle and net for a softer, more ethereal feel. This style is perfect for the bohemian, romantic bride, and it pairs well with a loose braid, natural makeup, and stained cheeks or lips. We love the idea of this style dress at a vineyard or a woodsy natural wedding. Here are a few of my favorite "ethereal lace" gowns by Claire Pettibone, Marchesa, and Reem Acra.lace wedding dresses

Every great wedding has a lively dance floor, and dancing the night away with dear friends and long-lost relatives is often one of the best parts of saying “I do.” But what about guests who don’t want to dance — or aren’t able to? How can they have all-night fun at your wedding?

We have a few suggestions below for ways to keep your guests entertained all night — and reminiscing about the BEST. WEDDING. EVER. long into the future.

1. Have board games scattered throughout the room

This is a fun option to offer alongside traditional dancing entertainment: Guests can take a spin on the dance floor, then relax for a game of Chutes & Ladders, and non-dancers can make the rounds playing every game at the reception.

The designer calls the collection his "love note to brides everywhere. Each design in this collection depicts a romantic femininity with silhouettes that embrace and enhance every woman’s body while celebrating life’s exceptional moments."

Zac Posen has been a red carpet staple since his debut collection back in 2002 — his figure-flattering gowns have been seen on Beyoncé, Gwyneth Paltrow, Amanda Seyfried, Lena Dunham, Natalie Portman, Rihanna, Cameron Diaz, Christina Hendricks, and many more. But this isn't the high-end designer's first venture into the mass market — he also created a capsule collection for Target in 2008 and a lower-priced line called Z Spoke the following year.

Here's a sneak peek at the collection!

Couples Who Fell in Love Through Facebook

By Kelsey Borresen for Huffington Post Weddings

Happy 10th anniversary to Facebook! The social networking site turns 10 on Tuesday, February 4. And while tradition dictates that you celebrate a 10-year anniversary with a tin or aluminum gift, we decided to commemorate our decade-long love affair with Facebook with something a bit more...romantic.

Below are seven wonderful love stories that Facebook played a big part in — whether it was making that initial introduction between a couple or reuniting long-lost friends and lovers after years apart.

1. Patsy Thompson Sutton & John Alton Neeley Sr. | Macon, Ga.

In 2010, Patsy Thompson Sutton was on Facebook trying to reconnect with her classmates from Lanier High School in Mississippi. She accidentally sent a message to someone by the name of John Alton Neeley Sr. who went to a Lanier High School in Georgia instead.

Wedding Weight-Loss: Working Through a Plateau

In the past two weeks, I have only lost about one pound total and it keeps fluctuating. I've been on a weight-loss plateau, and I don’t like it. Although it sucks, I'm staying postitive — I know that as long as I stick with my plan, I will get through it.

My last two workouts with Bonne Marcus have been amazing! She is incorporating cardio into our routines, and I really love it. The routine is a circuit, which consists of four moves. We perform each move for 50 seconds, take a 10-second break, and start the next move. We go through each circuit three times. It's great because we are accomplishing so much cardio and strength training in half the time. All of the moves are easy to do at home on my own and provide an effective workout in under an hour.

Here is what last week’s workout looked like, so you can try it at home, too!

Circuit 1
Jumping jacks
Run the bench (we used a step)
Kettlebell swing
Mountain climb

Circuit 2
Burpees (we used a step)
Squat to high pull with the kettlebell
Knee to floor lunge with a side raise with an 8-pound dumbbell
Pullover crunches on the ball with a medicine ball

Couple Plans Wedding in 24 Hours So That Terminally Ill Mom Can Attend

When Aly Femia's mother, Mary Quinn, went to the doctor to check on a pain she was feeling in her neck, she never could've predicted the diagnosis — incurable lung cancer that had spread to her brain. Aly and her fiancé, Anthony, had been planning on a September 2015 wedding. But when Aly asked the doctor when she should hold the wedding so that her mother could be attend, the answer was "tomorrow."

And so Aly, Anthony, their families, and the Yale New Haven Hospital staff instantly got to work, planning a wedding in 24 hours so that Mary could be there to see her daughter get married. One of the doctors took Aly dress shopping, the couple secured their marriage license, the staff bought Aly a bracelet for her "something new," a social worker gave Aly her grandmother's handkerchief to be her "something old," and Aly wore her mother's pearl necklace. The hospital donated food, flowers, and a wedding cake, and the hospital chaplain performed the ceremony right in Mary's hospital room.

How to Write the Perfect Thank-You Note

In The Emily Post Institute's latest book, Emily Post’s Wedding Etiquette: 6th Edition, Emily's great-great-granddaughters Anna and Lizzie Post tackle modern-day wedding questions that the original etiquette expert never could've dreamed about, from how to use (wisely) use technology, the rules for same-sex weddings, and much more. Here, the fourth generation of Posts tackle the biggest thank-you note questions.

There are two fundamentals of expressing gratitude. First, every gift — whether a tangible item, money, a social event in your honor, or a gift of time or talent — should be acknowledged in writing. And second, your acknowledgment should be prompt.

Personal, handwritten thank-yous remain the gold standard of courtesy in this age of texting, email, and instant messaging. Written notes demonstrate that the writer cares enough about the giver to compose an individual message and put the words on paper.

Here are the top 10 dos and don'ts:
