We asked four just-married newlyweds to share where they registered, what they registered for, and how they made their homes come together.

The Couple: Nicoletta Kirkitos and Steve Savod
From: New York, New York
Registered at: Williams-Sonoma
Wedding Date: November 15, 2009

photo: David Lazarus

Why did you register at Williams-Sonoma? “They had everything we wanted in one place—appliances, cookware, even kitchen gadgets. Plus, the products are beautiful, and the service is amazing.”

Did you register together? “Partially. I went online first, and made a list of everything we wanted. Then we went to the store together and expanded the list when we saw the products firsthand.”

Your list was surprisingly short and well edited. How did you do it? “It was difficult. When you get in the store with the scanner, your instinct is to add everything. But we thought about what we really needed and had space for—in New York that’s a priority—and registered accordingly.”

You chose great kitchen appliances. Do you cook often? “In this economy, we cook almost every night. And with all these new appliances, it’s so much more fun to entertain. We especially love the Breville convection oven,”

What attracted you to the KitchenAid blender? “KitchenAid has a great reputation, and the blend got rave reviews online. I like that it’s smaller than most models and takes up less space.”

Any advice for other couples? “Try to register as soon as possible. We added and deleted items after the initial ‘wow’ factor.”
