New Wedding Favor to Love: Swizzle Cakes

Cupcakes have been in the bridal spotlight for a few years now, and with good reason--they're delicious, adorable on display and easier to eat than a slice of fondant-encrusted cake. Swizzle Cakes, a Los Angeles-area bakery, has taken the cupcake craft to the next level--literally. The confectionary has just debuted alcohol-flavored cupcakes, with yes, national delivery, and flavors like Egg Nog, Cosmopolitan and Melissa's Mimosa. Unlike other desserts where the alcohol bakes out, Swizzle Cakes uses a “secret” process that enables the moist and fluffy cake to retain all of the alcohol ingredient (and its giddy effects!). The bakery even offers to do custom flavors--a great way to hint at your signature cocktail at your bridal shower or to munch on at the afterparty. Plus, Swizzle Cakes wraps its confections in sugar, rather than paper, for an eco-friendly treat. Kids attending your wedding festivities as well? Don't forget to swipe a few of their virgin flavors, like Shirley Temple and Lemonade. Visit swizzlecakes.com for more information.

Slimming Lingerie--For Real!

Every woman is always looking for lingerie that not only feels good to the touch, but makes the woman feel good about herself. Enter Yummie Tummie. The just years-old shapewear label has taken the lingerie market by storm: After producing slimming tanks, body shapers (and even a men's line!), the brains behind the Yummie Tummie operation introduced a sexy line of teddys and baby dolls. Not only do the designs come in myriad shades like white, orchid, red and the ubiquitious black, but also smooths bulges, flattens your belly and lifts up your favorite set of "girls." The result? Lingerie you'll actually want to wear after the honeymoon's over.

The Year of the...Celebrity Engagement

"Put a ring on it" was more than just a phrase from one of Beyonce's hits, but the unofficial celebrity anthem of 2010: In just the past few months alone, the amount of high-profile engagements has spiked--and we can't wait to see their plans! Just days ago it was revealed that Long Island native (like me!) Natalie Portman was not only engaged to her choreographer beau, Benjamin Milliped (they met while she filmed Black Swan), but was also pregnant with the couple's first child. In what seemed like seconds later, blonde babe Reese Witherspoon announced her own plans to tie the knot with talent agent Jim Toth. While we see Natalie in in a gown that's pure abstract couture (perhaps from the Black Swan costumers, the sisters of chic label Rodarte), we imagine Reese in something a bit more traditional--like a sweeping tulle-and-satin ballgown.

But wait, there's more! Ginnifer Goodwin nabbed herself a fiancee, and Nicole Richie just wed longtime beau Joel Madden. Richie's details--including her multiple Marchesa gowns--were absolutely stunning, so we can only imagine how lovely each of these celeb's weddings will be.

Primer: The Ultimate Makeup Saver

Having spent several years as an editor in the beauty market, I've learned a thing or two about making your makeup last--and last all night, at that. And although there are plenty of formulas which offer up promises like "Lasts for 12 hours!" and "smudge- and budge-proof," there's just one product that every woman needs: primer. By smoothing fine lines on parts of the face that are susceptible, such as around the mouth,  primer prepares your canvas--your face--for cosmetics. Foundation will glide on more smoothly and evenly, as does blush, eyeshadow, and other products. There are plenty of clear formulas to choose from, but there are also tinted options, which can help hide age spots or other skin discolorations. Check out our favorites above, then tell us: do you wear primer?
